It is WFMW hosted by Mrs. Shannon at Rocks In My Dryer.My WFMW tip is chocolate milkshakes without ice cream! My Mom found this recipe at Hillbilly Housewife. The recipe is:

Magic Milkshakes

1-1/2 to 2 cups ice water

1-1/2 cups nonfat dry milk powder

2/3 cup sugar

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 to 1-1/2 trays of ice cubes, as much as you can spare

2 tablespoons corn oil plus a 5-second squirt of non-stick spray for emulsification purposes

Place all of the ingredients into the blender, including the oil and the non-stick spray. Use less water for thicker milk shakes and more water for shakes that are easy on your blender motor. The blender should be about 3/4's full. Place the lid on. Process for a full 2 minutes. Pour into cups and serve. Makes 4 - 12oz servings. For preparation tips please see below.

I love this recipe because it makes very rich milk shakes without any ice cream. I don't always have ice cream in the house because the kids eat it so fast. With this recipe we can have delicious frosty milk shakes for a fraction of the cost of those using ice cream. And all the ingredients are on the pantry shelf!

Today it is Works For Me Wednesday hosted by Mrs. Shannon at Rocks In My Dryer

My WFMW Tip is a time saver! In our house, shoes take too long to put into each little bin in a shoe caddy. For a child, this is too difficult and time taking, and the shoes will most likely not make it into its place, triggering long hours of shoe finding when they are needed. Instead of caddies, my sister and I use a box to keep our shoes in. All we have to do is toss the shoe into the box, rather than having to place each individual shoe into the caddy. Not only is it easier for little ones, most adult sized shoes do not fit in a caddy, and it saves time!

Good Evening! Today I am presenting the first of a 5 part series on "Women and Careers".

Women and Careers Part 1 of 5 By Courtney L.

Thursday will be ways to biblically make money from home, and glorifying God through family businesses.We will go from there.

I am going to start out by showing what the Biblical Proverbs 31 lady does:
Proverbs 31:9a-31
"Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character

10 [c] A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.

11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.

12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.

13 She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.

14 She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.

15 She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.

16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

I am not going to say having a "career" is wrong. I believe first, that a woman's place is in her home. If you are a young woman, you are under your father's roof. If you are married, you are under your husband's roof. It is the duty of the men to provide for the women.

Please read Genesis 2:15,
"The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it."

(Ideally, the entire family would be working together in a God-honoring family business as well.)

Women are created to be helpmeets and managers of their homes.
Genesis 2:18
"The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."

Genesis 3:16b
"Your desire will be for your husband,
and he will rule over you."

(This verse, by the way, is one of the many reasons women shouldn't be in political positions)

On Virtuous Women....

Good Afternoon!
I am filling in for Mom today. Emma had her pediatrician appointment this morning (4 shots!) and Mom is tired after all the excitment.

Today I was thinking about the shortage of Christian, God-fearing, wives, mothers, and young ladies learning how to be such.

We need to take a stand for our beliefs, for our families, and for the generations to come. We need strong (Biblically and spiritually strong) women who are willing to stand up for what is right.

Here is a quote* from Peter Marshall, formal U.S. Senate Chaplain.

"Godly womanhood....the very phrase sounds strange in our ears. We never hear it now. We hear about every other type of women:
beautiful women, smart women, sophisticated women, career women, talented women, divorced women. But so seldom do we hear of a godly woman-or of a godly man either, for that matter. We believe women come nearer to fulfilling their God-given function in the home than anywhere else. It is a much nobler thing to be a good wife, than to be Miss America. It is a greater achievement to establish a Christian home than it is to produce a second-rate novel filled with filth. It is a far, far better thing in the realms of morals to be old-fashioned, than to be ultra-modern. The world has enough women who know how to be smart. It needs women who are willing to be simple. The world has enough women who know how to be brilliant. It needs some who will be brave. The world has enough women who are popular. It needs more who are pure. We need women, and men too, who would rather be morally right than socially correct."

Hmmm. It is very sad that this even had to be a quote. If all the women were doing what they were supposed to be doing, where would our world be today?

Today is WFMW!

My Works For Me Wednesday tip is Easy Sunburn Relief.

We have used Olive Oil on our sunburns for the last several years. Not only does it provide cooling relief, it takes care of the sunburn too. This also works on wind chapped places. You wait half an hour or so before you apply it. It Works For Me!

So nice to be back! As a result of doing some bathroom work yesterday, here is a picture of our shower stall 200 tiles later:

We still have some tiles to put up as you can see, but we are making huge headway!

Today I have two things I would like to ask prayer over.
The first is my Mom, she has not been feeling well. Please pray that she will get to feeling better.

It's Frugal Friday hosted by Biblical Womanhood

My tip is an excellent chocolate coffee shake!

Mocha Shake
Ingredients:
1/4 cup warm water
2 tablespoons HERSHEY'S Cocoa
1 tablespoon sugar
1 to 2 teaspoons powdered instant coffee
1/2 cup milk
2 cups vanilla ice cream
Directions:
1. Place water, cocoa, sugar and instant coffee in blender container. Cover; blend briefly on low speed. Add milk.

2. Cover; blend on high speed until thoroughly blended. Add ice cream. Cover; blend until smooth. Serve immediately. About three 6-ounce servings.

Yummy!

Frugal Friday!

It's Frugal Friday hosted by Mrs. Crystal at Biblical Womanhood

My Frugal Friday tip is Easy Peanut Butter cookies with only 4 ingredients.

1 cup of peanut butter
1 cup of sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350^.Blend all ingredients, mix well until thoroughly mixed. Drop by rounded tablespoon on to a greased cookie sheet. Make fork marks on top by crossing the marks. Cook until spread out and not shiny. These will come out of the oven slightly gooey. When they cool, they are cookie consistency. Yummy! Enjoy!

Today is my dear Dad's birthday. I wanted to post a special letter to him.

Dear Dad,
Thank-you so very much for being there for us all these years. I personally have really appreciated it.

You are so very special to all of us. I enjoy the fact that you take the time to talk, teach and discipline us so that we will be better people. You impact all who are around you. You are a shining beacon of light for the gospel. You have been through so many things, yet you never complain. I love the fact that I was lucky enough to have you for a Dad.

WFMW-Kitchen Edition

My WFMW tip is using cafeteria trays in your kitchen.
One way we use ours is in our refrigerator. We put the contents of the fridge on the trays, so when it is cleaning time, you just pull them out and wipe them off. Very easy!

Another way we use them is bread making/kneading trays. Simply place a wet rag under the tray so it doesn't slide and presto! A cheap rolling surface that can be ran through the dishwasher. They can be used as craft trays, puzzle making surfaces, breakfast in bed trays, etc. Have fun! We found ours on ebay!

Roll Recipe!!

We experimented with a new dinner roll recipe last night. These rolls are not only gorgeous, but they are super easy to make!
Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

1 package active dry yeast (or 1 Tablespoon)

1 teaspoon sugar

1 1/4 cups lukewarm water

2 teaspoons fine sea salt

About 3 3/4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour

Cornmeal (used to keep the dough from sticking to pan)

1 egg and a splash of milk (or water can be used)

Sprinkle fine sea salt

Proof the yeast using the first 3 ingredients.

Mix for about 2 minutes and then remove from bowl and knead for about 5 minutes by hand.

Transfer dough to bowl, cover with tea towel and let rise for about 40 minutes - the dough should rise slightly.

(The dough has risen)

Remove dough from bowl and cut the dough into four equal pieces.

Roll each piece into a small sausage-shaped roll (about 8 inches long). Cut each roll into four equal pieces.

Form each piece into a ball by rolling it between the work surface and the palm of your hand, slightly cupped, bringing the seamed edges under or on the bottom. Place balls on a baking sheet lightly sprinkled with cornmeal. Be sure to space your rolls about 2 inches apart.

You can also form the balls into knots by rolling them out into sausage links and then make a half knot and place on the baking sheet.

Cover with damp cloth and let rise again for about 40 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 475°F.

Mix 1 egg and splash of milk (or water) and lightly brush each roll with the egg wash.

Place baking sheet in the oven and bake rolls until golden brown - about 12 to 15 minutes.

Transfer the rolls to a rack to cool - this will allow the air to circulate under and around the bread to ensure a nice crust.

Quick Tip:

Keep an eye on your rolls towards the end of cooking time. You may need to turn your pan around to provide even cooking or browning.

Frugal Friday!!!

My Frugal Friday tip is Ribbon Bookmarks. You can make these for under 25 cents!

First, you cut a length of ribbon about 10-20 inches long. Coat each end of the ribbon with clear nail polish or Aileen's Craft Glue. Slide a bead onto the ribbon, then fold in half. Tie a knot under where your bead is.

Here is a picture to demonstrate:

Now, tie knots about an inch from the bottom of each loose end.

You are finished!
Here is what they look like finished:

You can put beads on the bottoms if you would like, but that is optional.

As you know, today is WFMW hosted by Mrs. Shannon at Rocks In My Dryer

My WFMW tip is storing curly ribbon. As many of you know, storing curly ribbon can be a major fiasco. The ribbon can get all tangled p if not stored properly. We use a tension rod to store ours. Take your tension rod, put your spools of ribbon onto it, and put it back up. We have stored ours in our laundry room and also our closets. You can also hang scissors by a length of ribbon as well to keep them from disappearing.

Happy Saturday Everyone!!!!!!

I thought I would share a recipe favorite of ours today!

Peanut Butter Balls
Combine & mix:
1 lb. peanut butter
1 lb. powdered sugar
2 sticks melted butter (1c.)
Shape into balls & cool in freezer.
Combine in double boiler on low:
1/2 slab paraffin
12 oz. choc, chips
Dip balls in with toothpick. Cool on waxed paper. Store in layers on waxed paper.

This is one of our favorite deserts around here! Have a Happy Saturday!

Yesterday was Timmy's 5th birthday! Later this week, we will be going to Chuckie Cheese because it is a "big" birthday. For a further explanation of this, click hereto go to my mom's blog. She wrote an excellent article today on birthdays here at our house.

So far, today we have:
Done our school
Painted
Started cleaning and grouting the tile in the bathroom
Done lots of webwork on various sites of ours
Done the dishes
Did the laundry
Showers
Straightened the house

Good Morning! I am extremely sorry I have not posted in a few days....we have been really busy!

On Tuesday, we had a birthday party for Joshua and his friends!

Here are some party moments I would like to share:

All together, it was really a lot of fun! We played arcade games, pool, and air hockey, we ate pizza and cake, and had a great time! We will definetely be doing this again!!

Happy Monday to all you bloggers and readers out there!
As some of you may know, we celebrated Joshua's 13th birthday on Friday of last week.

That is why I am a *little* late in getting back to everyday posting!

We have the nice surprise of no water this afternoon! We have a bunch of construction going on around us all the time! They think nothing of shutting off water or electricity without you knowing. Not a nice thing with lots of laundry and dishes plans for the day. Not to mention the painting and puttying as well! *sigh*. Oh well! We must learn to be flexible and use lots of purell huh???

Today's Task:
These have totally changed due to no water.......we will be sewing and straightening today instead! We do already have our school done!

What I Am Learning:
It is important to always have things put away for times you don't expect..... such as
water being shut off.

Please pray for my Mom and new baby "Hercules" that is on the way!

WFMW - Love Sweet Love Edition

Today is WFMW hosted by Mrs. Shannon at Rocks In My Dryer. The theme today is Love Sweet Love. My WFMW tip is frugal valentines!

What You Will Need:
Unlined Notecards
Red Inkpad
Red Pen
A Willing Thumb
Optional: Assorted Valentines Stickers

On one side of the notecard, make thumbprints , and then place other thumbprints on top of the first ones to make little hearts. On the other side, write a valentine message, then fold the card in half longways, and secure with a valentines sticker. The heart thumbprints should be on the outside.You can add candy or little squiggly lines if wanted.

Today has been particularly busy for us so far! We have finished all of our school, worked on dishes and laundry, briefly straightened, laid dinner out, and too many other things to list.

Today we (My brother Joshua and I) have been getting ready for electronics classes tonight with a friend of ours.

Good Middle-Of-The-Day!!!I am very excited to be back in the blogosphere! I love writing, so this is like relaxation to me!! LOL! This week we have been replacing our bathroom, as I had mentioned before. We have almost all the tiling done, the electrical is done, the plumbing is almost done........ all this and we are not even close though! We still have the cabinetry, the tub and the flooring to go!!!!!!

Today we have been getting ready to bake sourdough bread! It has to rise for a total of 18-24 hours to rise totally! Yikes! We also just got a amish friendship bread starter mixed as well.

I must go unfortunately! I will post later!

Frugal Friday!

Today is Frugal Friday hosted by Mrs. Crystal at Biblical Womanhood.
My Frugal Friday tip is cheap notecards using stamps and notecards!

You can go to the craft store and purchase a very inexpensive set of blank notecards. The stamp investment is a little expensive the first time, but it will pay for itself over time, with the saved money of not having to purchase expensive store-bought cards.

You just take your notecards, stamp them, and trim them with things you find around your house, such as buttons, eyelets, ribbons, dried pressed flowers, beads, and so much more!

This is a wonderful way to use up extra craft supplies and save money! Plus, It gives a nice personalized touch!

Today Mom went in for her ultrasound to find out if our newest blessing is a boy or girl...... It's A Boy!!!! We are all very excited about the coming arrival!

Today it is Works For Me Wednesday hosted by Mrs. Shannon at Rocks In My Dryer

My WFMW Tip is a time saver! In our house, shoes take too long to put into each little bin in a shoe caddy. For a child, this is too difficult and time taking, and the shoes will most likely not make it into its place, triggering long hours of shoe finding when they are needed. Instead of caddies, my sister and I use a box to keep our shoes in. All we have to do is toss the shoe into the box, rather than having to place each individual shoe into the caddy. Not only is it easier for little ones, most adult sized shoes do not fit in a caddy, and it saves time!

Bathroom Remodeling...

Good Evening!

Welcome back to my new blog.

This week, we are remodeling our master bathroom. We have ripped out cabinets, the vanity, the bathtub.......and much more to get ready for this. So today, we began tiling the walls.
Here is the picture so far:

We are going to start laying down the cement board and tiling the floor tonight, So far, we have been making good progress! Please pray that we can continue with the progress! :)

Lately, we have been getting excited about The Jamestown 400 Treasure Hunt, hosted by Vision Forum.com. If you are looking for a exciting way to learn more about history, this is the way to do it! It's not too late to get started, but it will be soon!

I am off to pick up the house, and to finish Peanut Butter Balls. I will share the recipe for that tomorrow!

Saturday....

Today has been a really busy day! We are planning on remodeling our bathroom over the next several weeks. Today, we bought the supplies and tomorrow, we are hopping to it! We will be tiling the floor, installing a new vanity, installing new cabinets, putting in a new bathtub, painting and tiling the walls, tiling the tub surround, and too many other things to count! Yikes!

Meanwhile......Lately, I have been studying in 1 Timothy. That is one power-packed book of wisdom right there! It seems that every verse has something to be gleaned from it! My favorite one so far is: 1st Timothy 4:12: "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity."

Young people nowadays should take to heart these verses! If they did, this world would be so much better!

I will post more later!

Today has already been full. We have eaten breakfast, started straightening the house, and gotten ready to do our daily schooling.

I can already tell that this is going to be a full day, based on our list!
Today, we need to:
~~Finish straightening the house~~
~~Finish school~~
~~Lay dinner out~~
~~Straighten the yard~~
~~Do some various web projects~~
~~Finish the laundry (quite a feat with 10 people! :) )~~
And, ~~Complete the dishes~~ (also quite a feat!)
